Getting started

How to Use Your Webcam as a Mirror

All you need is a working camera and a browser that allows camera access.

1

Start your mirror

Select Start Mirror, then allow camera access when prompted. Your live image appears in a familiar mirror view.

2

Get a closer look

Adjust Zoom and Brightness to see what you need. If your device has more than one available camera, use Switch Camera to cycle through them.

3

Save a photo or finish up

Choose Save Photo if you'd like a PNG to keep. Select Stop Mirror when you're done to turn off this tool's camera feed.

Adjust Your Mirror View

A few simple controls help you check the details without opening a photo editor.

Zoom in up to 2.2×

Use this online mirror with zoom to take a closer look at your hair or makeup. Move the slider back to 1× for a wider view.

Adjust the brightness

Lighten or darken the image with the Brightness slider. It changes the picture on your screen; for better lighting on your face, turn toward a window or lamp.

Open a full screen mirror

Select Full Screen to give the mirror more room. Availability depends on your browser and device; you can still use the preview on this page.

A Quick Check Before You Go

Keep a mirror handy on your laptop or phone for the little things you want to check before heading out or joining a call.

Catch that stray hair

Straighten your part, smooth a flyaway, or check your collar while you're at your desk. Zoom in if you need a closer look.

Check your makeup

Look for a lipstick smudge or tidy up after a touch-up. Leave Brightness at 100% and use good lighting when checking color; your camera and screen can affect how it looks.

Get ready for an interview

Check your shirt, camera angle, and what's behind you. Stop the mirror before joining your call, then check the meeting app's own preview for the final framing and effects.

Online Mirror Not Working?

Start with the issue you see, then try opening the camera again.

1

I blocked camera access. How do I allow it?

Open your browser's site permissions and allow this site's camera access, then reload the page. In desktop Chrome, go to Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Camera. Also check that your device allows the browser to use its camera.

2

Why is my online mirror showing a black screen?

Check that your camera's privacy cover is open and an external webcam is plugged in. Close other apps or tabs using the camera, reload this page, and select Start Mirror. If the camera also fails in your device's camera app, check the device's camera settings.

3

Why can't I switch cameras?

Switch Camera is available only when the browser reports at least two cameras. Allow camera access first. If you've just connected a webcam, reload the page so the tool can check for it.

4

The browser says camera access isn't available. What now?

Open this page directly in your device's browser and check that the address begins with HTTPS. Camera access needs a secure page and browser support. On a work or school device, an administrator may need to allow access.

Online Mirror FAQ

What to know about your camera, photos, and mirror view.

1

Is this online mirror free, with no download?

Yes. You can use the mirror, adjust the view, and save photos for free in your browser. There's no app to install or account to create.

2

Can I use my laptop or phone as a mirror?

Yes, if it has a working camera and a browser that supports camera access. Open this page and select Start Mirror. Camera switching and full screen availability vary by device and browser.

3

Does this online mirror record me?

No. This tool displays your camera feed locally without uploading it or recording video. It doesn't request microphone access. Save Photo creates a still image for download only when you select it. Stop Mirror ends this tool's camera feed.

4

Where does my saved photo go?

Save Photo downloads a PNG through your browser, usually to its Downloads location. The photo is mirrored and includes your zoom and brightness adjustments. Its framing may differ from the preview because the preview fills the available space on your screen.

5

How can I see myself without the mirror effect?

This page keeps the camera image mirrored, so text held up to the camera looks backward. Open Reverse Mirror for an unmirrored view and compare using a word on a card or shirt. An unmirrored image changes the orientation; it isn't an exact reproduction of how you look in person.

6

Will these controls change my video calls?

No. Zoom and Brightness here affect this tool's preview and saved photos. They don't change your meeting app's settings or what it sends to other people. Check the preview inside your meeting app before joining.

7

Can I use an online mirror without a camera?

A live mirror needs a camera. If your computer doesn't have one, connect a webcam or open this page on a phone with a camera.

8

Can I add filters to my mirror photo?

This page offers brightness and zoom controls. For effects such as grayscale or sepia, open our Webcam Mirror tool.
